Since 2002, the Sacramento International Asian Film Festival (Cine Asia) has run amazing films from Asian directors, actors and topics for over ten years: Films like Slum Dog Millionaire and guests like Academy Award winner Chris Tashima and ER's Lily Mariye have been been featured.
.
THIS YEAR: enjoy three amazing films that will make you think about our world and our place in it. The Headliner, a film by Kurt Weitzmann, is a documentary about Margaret Cho and her heartfelt homeless outreach campaign inspired by the philanthropy of Robin Williams.
After the death of her friend Robin, Margaret took to the streets of her hometown, San Francisco with the mantra "Don't grieve Robin, BE Robin." What started as Margaret busking on the corner with a bag of socks and a guitar case, rapidly turned into hundreds of musicians, comedians, and homeless advocates spreading food, clothes, money, and awareness in an amazing humanitarian street theater experience. This special film chronicles that incredible journey.
Plays with 2 amazing shorts:
