Zach Josse just recently received his degree in film from Pacific Union College. He has worked with several local businesses and companies since starting film, including work featured on Delta Airlines flights and Le Creuset, in association with vineyards and winemakers in the Napa Valley. Storytelling lies at the center of Zach’s passions. He hopes to tell stories that people can connect with and ultimately give them a feeling, be it conscious or unconscious. Whether it is technical, visual or storytelling, he hopes to continue his journey in connecting with others by showing them something they might be able to connect with.
Few things can connect us and destroy us as much as love. Love, an idea constructed and enforced by something the human mind cannot comprehend. There are certain aspects of life that humanity experiences, but we will never be able to understand them. They transcend human consciousness. As a filmmaker, my hope is to touch on aspects of experience that are incomprehensible. I may not understand those experiences, but at least I will feel it, along with the viewer. My ultimate goal is to have people feel something through film, much like expressionist painters, looking to convey the emotions of the human mind.
Link is the result of two brothers coming together to tell a story. Link seeks to question the ideas of how technology affects society and where humanity is going in terms of how we function with technology. Coupled with themes of what it means to be in a relationship and what it means to love, the story of the characters becomes just as important as the concept of virtual reality. Our hope was to say, love, society, technology and the human connection are all part of the human experience.
My brother, Ben and I wrote, shot, and edited Link together. We have been a team since birth and it has carried over to our careers. We are able to communicate often without even having to speak. We decided to include our Mother, Roxanne Josse, as the main actress, making the film a true, family event.
