IMDB vs. the Independent Film

Posted on October 18, 2010 at 5:30pm 13 Comments

As most of us know, IMDB is the leading source of finding professional films in this country. If you're not on IMDB, your film isn't considered professional. People look at it as a fun little project you did with no clout in the filmmaking community. But here's my question: What is considered professional?

From my own experiences with IMDB, a professional production is not one that has been showcased in a film festival or won an award. It is not based on the quality…

Hi Julie, Sorry for the long delay. I am writing two scripts that take place around northern California. One is an action adventure/Cyber-thriller and the other is  a zombie horror movie about a solder who travels from Travis Air Force base to Santa Cruz to save his daughter from the ongoing zombie apocalypse. What can I say, I prefer zombies over vampires :-)

How was your summer? (heers,Mike

Hi Julie,

What do I write? I am working on a script that is an action adventure/espionage thriller for the 20 something crowd.Think Swordfish meets Hackers. And I am also working on the outline for a Disney-like, family film that involves the true meaning of  "home." Kinda like National Treasure meets Home Alone. But my day job is killing me - hours wise. I also like to dabble with Premier and After Effects. My Green screen and stands were delivered at work today! I am thinking about creating a TV/Web commercial for my friend's small business. What are you up to?
