I'm a film professional
My areas of expertise include:
As owner Don Black (since 1974), BACKROAD PRODUCTIONS provides quality and professional media production services combined with a vast pool of talented writers, directors, producers, DP's and crew. Our experience and knowledge allows us to work together towards one common goal: excellence in broadcasting. Don as the creative mastermind when it comes to production, his technical knowledge of photography and “hands on” technique, provide a rapid work environment and fast-paced productions while on the set. While shooting one scene, He often plans three setups ahead and rarely gets behind the daily shooting schedule. Don has amazed many directors and producers with positive results at the end of the production day. Don is also proud of his work as Motion Picture Liaison for Sacramento County Transportation Division between 1990 and 2000. His hard work provided prime locations and un-restricted access for Major Motion Picture Productions such as: "General's Daughter"; "Rocky and Bullwinkle"; "All Most Famous"; "Letter's from a Killer"; and "Life", (are a few). Don started his career in sound production in 1982, which eventually led to the ownership of Anahartath Recording Studios. After selling the studio, Don ventured into the Roseville, California Channel 8 studios and worked as a camera operator, lighting and floor director, control room operator and producer. His first production for Channel 8 was a three part series titled “Where No Man Has Gone Before” which was loosely based upon fans who attend Sci- Fi Conventions. The popularity of the series had the Station Manager asking for more. After two long years of people telling him; "it could not be done"; he successfully created, produced and broadcast a Reality Type News Magazine - SFN-Science Fiction News ®. The show premiered in 1995 in Sacramento, California on PBS Station KVIE.
