Vancouver Vagabond, a bold feature premiere and the 1st of a docudrama film trilogy from creator Heath Tait, explores his precarious journey as an indie filmmaker in and around Hollywood North, the citys politics and its multi-colour character.
With the approach of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, the Vagabond series reveal a dramatic slice of both the citys and Canadas back story, historic and contemporary, informative and provocatively entertaining.
The story draws from sumptuous cinematic film imagery (16, S16, 35mm), some of the best material from Heaths media history and from over 200 raw, street-sweeping documentary video hours of developments and discussions, politicians, activists, analysts, journalists, business people, arts administrators, film industry associates, friends, family and the list goes on.
Heaths personal story is seated firmly within a landscape of postmodern times, archival footage from five sources detailing Canadian and American times past.
Zany, extreme characters alongside a rich tapestry of musical forms and FX enchant this film-within-a film inside story of Pictorial Forest, an innovative award winning short animation odyssey that inspired from its own creative realization, this dramatic documentary feature film.
A bonus, the 15-minute multi-technique animation Pictorial Forest is to be paired with the feature film for its exclusive commercial release.
