CFAA Meeting with The Calif. Film Commissioner

Been getting personal invitations to this meeting as if it's THE most IMPORTANT event concerning Indy filmmaking in Sacramento. What??? I cannot understand exactly what effect the California Film Commissioner (Amy Lemisch ) would have on Independent filmmaking in Sacramento. Is she going to get me money? No. So can somebody explain that to me? Am I missing something? This seems like a great waste of time, like the last meeting at CFAA with the So Cal Assemblyman who basically said, "Hey, there's nothing you can do about filmmaking in California...Only the legislature can do something". So do we have a rally on the Capitol steps? A bake sale? What? But then whatever the legislature does, will probably only affect the big guys...not me. So what's the point here? Is this just "playing Hollywood" again?
