I’m a living, walking success story. As an seasoned environmental educator and Americorps formally trained grass roots organizer this is what has made the person I am projecting to be. My main focal point is centered on sustainability in urban areas. By grass roots organizing, developing young leaders, training youth in a diversity of soft-skills, and authoring an original life science curricula my life’s work has involved a hands on method to empower youth and communities. In my early years in Bayview Hunters Point southeast of San Francisco Bay, I learned and developed tools needed to be a visionary steward working to better community through action.
As a young person living in a single parent led household in a low income community surrounded by heavy pollution, I was targeted as an at-risk urban youth by local community based organizations as well as the many schools I attended. My heartbeat thundered after participating in youth programs facilitated by community recreation centers. Then I became a Boys and Girls Club member. Later, as an Americorps member/leader, I was an intern volunteer serving in the same community which I grew up in. In my service to the community i've facilitated a series of significant service learning projects resulting in quantitative results in California. I infuse my life experience into my art.
