Originally from Berkeley, I grew up traveling to Sacramento a couple times a year to visit my uncle, Eugene Peshette, who was a teacher at Center High School.
As an artist and filmmaker I'm fascinated by people who are following callings - what drives them, how they overcome their problems, and what their successes look like.
So when I met my uncle's friend Hugh I was eager to interview him and introduce him to everyone with this video portrait. It's only too bad that I had to limit the video to a short: he's full of amazing adventure stories!
Laurels, awards and other accomplishments:
The Sacramento International Film Festival is the theatrical world premiere of this short.
One of my previous shorts, Mujaan, won four awards for best short documentary and played in dozens of film festivals around the world.
