I'm a film professional
My areas of expertise include:
Independent filmmaker living and working on the frontline of the American arctic.
About me - current project:
Finishing ONCE THERE WERE POLAR BEARS. Currently, this film is a 6-minute short, the beginning of a full feature documentary. My goal for this film is to share the truth of polar bear ecology with Americans, who have been misled to believe that there is no future for our polar bears in the face of melting sea ice. ONCE THERE WERE POLAR BEARS will demonstrate the historical precedent for polar bears living on land, while exploring how allocating land for them today could be the key to their future survival. Laurels, awards and other accomplishments:
My debut film, ICE BEARS OF THE BEAUFORT (2009), was the first to document American polar bears thriving on the coast of Alaska. It won many awards and continues to screen worldwide. One reviewer said that it "picks up where March of the Penguins left off."

My second film, WHAT DO POLAR BEARS DREAM WHILE THEY'RE DYING?, also won several awards, including Outstanding Environmental Vision award at the 2011 Sacramento International Film Festival. This bold film from the northern frontline tackled issues of toxification of the arctic environment and showed never-before-filmed scenes of helicopter harassment of polar bears by scientists.

Hey Art...great to meet you! Sounds like you have a lot of momentum behind your films, congrats. Hope that you are able to achieve some great stuff with the new one as it shapes into a feature. I'm excited to watch it at the festival and wish that I could meet you there in person. Good luck to you too.
