THE C.A.P. Act: What is it?
Many in Northern California know of the value of Community Media. Director Joe Carnahan (the A-Team) got his start in community media as have so many working professionals.
Community Media (Public Access) not only serves as an amazing training facility open to all regardless of their financial background; it also ties a community together by providing valuable tools to citizens who wish to excercise their free speech rights on the same turf (Cable TV) as the big corporations do.
So why should you care about The C. A. P. act ? Also known as the Cable Access Preservation act, C.A.P. will help protect community media from recent encroachments made by big industry (namely Verizon and AT&T) aimed at limiting YOUR FREE speech. Just as an open internet is critical to indie film makers, so to is a well developed community media!
