Here is a video we created to promote 4k Blu-ray technology. This is one video out of a series of of 5 videos. In this overview video we did our best to cover all the benefits.

4k Resolution:
4K refers to one of two high definition resolutions: 3840 x 2160 pixels or 4096 x 2160 pixels. 4K is four times the pixel resolution, or twice the line resolution (2160p), of 1080p (1920 x 1080 pixels). The other high definition resolutions in use are 720p and 1080i.

Immersive Audio:
Real immersive sound provides the listener with a natural (“life-like”) three-dimensional sound experience unlike anything heard before in traditional 2D surround solutions. Immersive audio creates the sensation of height all around the audience, transporting them into a more thrilling and deeper audio experience.

Wide Color Spectrum:
Also known as wide color gamut. It makes the palette itself bigger. Deeper reds, greens, and blues plus richer secondary colors like magentas, cyans, yellows and more. So colors that were too deep or intense on an HDTV can now be shown on an WCG-capable 4K TV. Think a bright yellow flower, or a dark brick red.

High Dynamic Range (HDR):
HDR imaging is a high dynamic range technique used in imaging and photography to reproduce a greater dynamic range of luminosity than is possible with standard digital imaging or photographic techniques.

This series was written by Doug Morris and directed by Justin McAleece. Ro Leon was the producer. Ian McAleece shot it in 6k with the Red Epic Dragon. The set up was light and built-out by the rest of our Blare Films’ crew. Elinor and Neris where our two talents.
About the BDA
In February 2002, a large group of companies called the Blu-ray Disc Founders announced the introduction of the Blu-ray Disc (BD) format, the next generation in optical storage. The new format would offer an immense storage capacity (up to 50GB) that is perfect for High Definition video recording and distribution, as well as for storing large amounts of data. The format shares the same form factors as existing CD and DVD optical discs allowing for backwards compatibility.
We captured this Mattress Firm's employee testimonial video in the Phoenix, Arizona area. It was the perfect time of the year. We followed Christina from Chandler to Scottsdale to check out her store. We learned the importance of a good mattress. We also captured Christina interacting with her clients and community. This was the first time Director Justin McAleece and DP Chance Roberts worked together. Matt Cole and the rest of the Phoenix crew did a wonderful job. We were lucky to capture little Roman in the video as well. After this was shot our editors led by Mauricio Tapia put the videos together. This was one of three videos that we produced for this campaign. We thank Contently for matching us to this project.

Williams-Sonoma Home offers an exclusive assortment of casually elegant furniture, lighting and decorative accessories – all designed to stand the test of time. When a representative from the rapidly expanding Williams-Sonoma contacted us, they were looking for a way to portray the unique, uplifting environment that their employees experience daily. We knew we could provide a recruitment video that showed prospective employees that this melting pot call center was the place to be! We sent a solid crew — Enrique Meza (Director of Photography), our Blare Video Grip (who assisted with lighting and backdrop), and Ro Leon (A Blare Account Executive and Field Producer) to shoot in Las Vegas at the Williams-Sonoma call center. Over the course of a long and enjoyably productive day, we interviewed 30+ Williams-Sonoma employees. It was exciting to hear about the growth and empowerment the company has inspired in the lives of the many who have chosen to relocate for the job–which may be majority of them! We shot this corporate video using two Canon C100s. Jason Wada took care of post-production editing and tendering. When the clip was shown at a company event, the pride was palpable. We at Blare were happy to, again, help a client tell a story in a fascinating and personal way. 51 FIFTY - Hawaii Video Productiontag:californiafilm.ning.com,2018-05-21:4396757:Video:1490542018-05-21T22:14:16.510ZBlake Barnetthttp://californiafilm.ning.com/profile/videoproduction
51Fifty means expanded horizons, it reaches for beautiful vistas, it stands for pushing your limits. In the spirit of all that we were able to take this commercial video production to Hawaii to show off everything that 51Fifty represents. Not only was this a fun shoot, with some great talent, but we were able to capture what we believe to be some truly breathtaking imagery. Production value starts with the location and the art direction. Both of those aspects were top notch on this spot. We used the DJI Ronin with our Red Epic Dragon camera to float around some gorgeous locales. It was a lot to pack into one day, but we came home with a 60 second and 30 second spot that we’re really proud of.

Our camera crew was made up of Justin McAleece, Cortiny Kleidon, and a local Hawaiian grip that was super helpful. We’re happy to see 51Fifty expanding to a broad new market all the way out in Hawaii. The new flavor is delicious (we would know, we ended up with a case or two). Post production was handled in Adobe Premiere CC 2017 and Davinci Resolve. There was a significant amount of color work done to make it really “pop” but of course if you don’t get it in camera, you’re never going to get it in post. We ended the commercial with a green screen shot of the can as gaffed by Mauricio Tapia and shot back here at the studio. Every little piece of the puzzle counts and that’s why we had a spray bottle on hand to give it those little spritzes and a custom lazy susan rig to give it just the right spin move.

A big thank you to Carlos and Sarahfina with 51Fifty for trusting us with this project.

Online Video Campaign

Dr. Andrew Maxwell, referred to by at least one of his patients, as the “King of LASIK” is an international authority on refractive surgery. In 2017, Pattie Turnbull, the marketing director for Fogg, Maxwell, Lanier & Remington EyeCare, turned to Blare Media to contract with us to develop a broadcast TV and online video campaign for the good doctor. In her brief, Pattie suggested we consider using patient testimonials. Testimonials are only as effective as the credibility of the subjects interviewed. Establishing that credibility depends on three factors; the ease with which the testifier is able to speak on camera; their confidence in themselves and the information they convey; and the manner and tone in which the interview is conducted. Obviously, making the subject feel more relaxed and comfortable during the interview will result in a more positive outcome.

For Dr. Maxwell’s campaign we chose two individuals: The first was a patient who had the LASIK procedure done over 15 years ago, retired Fresno State golf coach Mike Watney. In pre-production interviews, we learned a couple of things about the coach: His improved visual perception resulting from the LASIK procedure actually lowered his golf handicap; and Coach Watney convinced two of his family members, his son and his son-in-law, to have their LASIK procedures with Dr. Maxwell as well. Since all three men play golf, we chose to film them playing a round at the Copper River Country Club with the RED-Epic and a drone equipped with an HD camera. We were fortunate to have Dr. Maxwell join their game and make it a foursome. For our interviews, we quietly recorded each testifier individually in the hushed interior of the clubhouse. For our second subject, we chose an individual who only knew Dr. Maxwell by reputation. A.J. Sanchez is a drive time DJ for Y101 in Fresno who had been burdened with poor eyesight and had to wear glasses since he was a child. Since A.J. hadn’t yet had the LASIK procedure, we chose to film him before, during and a couple of days after Dr. Maxwell performed his surgery. We recorded A.J.’s surgery during one of the LASIK seminars FML&R routinely conducts. From the combined footage we were able to provide our client with two :30 second broadcast TV spots, one online video, and many sound bytes that were used in a series of radio spots. We checked with Pattie Turnbull prior to writing this treatment to ask her if she could recommend Blare Media to which she answered, “Of course guys, I’ve got your backs!”
